Process

Taking a gap year is a big decision, but we’re here to help you navigate every step of the way.

Our carefully curated admissions process is designed for us to get to know you as an individual so that we can help craft an itinerary that works best for you. We work diligently to build an incredible cohort of travelers ready to greet every adventure with an open mind. 

Although applicants are accepted on a rolling basis, we recommend applying as soon as possible to secure your spot on program. Our travelers are often enrolling a year or more in advance to be sure they have a space on the program they are most interested in.

Our admissions process

STEP 1

Explore our programs

Browse our programs and see what stands out: consider how long you want to travel, what you want to do on the road, and which parts of the world you want to see.

STEP 2

Chat with a Gap Year Consultant

Connect with a Gap Year Consultant to get more information about our programs and destinations: our team of expert advisors will help you and your family plan your ideal program. Together you will outline your goals and determine your custom itinerary, then they will take care of the logistics, from securing your deposit to flights.

STEP 3

Review your custom gap itinerary

Your Gap Year Consultant will create your custom program proposal with your itinerary and invoice. Dive into the recommendations your Gap Year Consultant sends over and spend some time imagining yourself living in each destination. Get in touch with any changes or thoughts.

STEP 4

Talk it over with your family

At this point in the process, your Gap Year Consultant will arrange a call with you and your family to talk through your program proposal such as your custom itinerary, module details, and payment options.

STEP 5

Reserve your spot on the program

Once you are enrolled, you will be introduced to your Gap Year Advisor; they who will be there for you every step of the way going forward, from pre-departure through your time on program.

Our live, online Gap Year Info Sessions take place every week. Discover how taking a gap year before or during college works, explore EF Gap Year programs, and ask our staff any questions that come to mind.

Feel free to bring your family, friends, or come on your own. Our dream is for each person to leave the session inspired to start planning their gap or, at the very least, newly open to the possibility.
