Our commitment to your privacy

EF Gap Year is committed to protecting the privacy of our online users and to process your personal data in compliance with applicable privacy and data protection legislation. Collection of personal information

On our site, you can order products and materials, make payments on your account, and sign up to lead or travel on a tour. We might ask you for personal information, which includes your name, address, email address, phone number, date of birth, emergency contact information and financial data such as credit/debit card and/or checking account numbers. This information may be collected by EF Gap Year both within and outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland, primarily to complete your transactions and to provide efficient, customized and meaningful experiences online. If you request our catalog or updates about our products and services, then we may also use that information to inform you of new offers, products and services which may be of interest to you. We maintain the confidentiality, security, and integrity of personal information that we obtain from our users. Collection of browsing information

We collect information about IP addresses, types of Web browsers and devices, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), referring and exit pages, operating systems, date/time stamps, search terms, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track users' movement, and gather demographic information. We use this information for marketing purposes to better track what products and services our customers prefer, so that we can tailor your user experience to those preferences.

EF will process your personal data in compliance with applicable data protection legislation for the purposes of completing your enrollment, customer service, the purchase of an offered travel protection plan, and providing you with the products and services related to your tour.  This may entail sharing your personal data with corporate affiliates, claims handlers, insurance providers, and other business partners both within and outside the U.S., including to and within the EEA/Switzerland.  We have put appropriate safeguards in place for such transfers of your personal data, including the standard data protection clauses adopted by the European Commission.  EF may also use your personal data, combined with data from third parties, to market products and services based on your interests, including by email and SMS/text.  You may contact EF at any time to unsubscribe from any direct marketing purposes. 

We will only keep your personal data for as long as it is necessary for the purposes for which it has been collected or in accordance with time limits stipulated by law and good market practice, unless further retention is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation or for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims. We will keep your personal data for marketing purposes until you withdraw your consent.

We may provide aggregate statistics about our customers, sales, traffic patterns, and related site information to reputable third-party vendors, but these statistics will include no personally identifying information.

Our commitment to children's privacy

Protecting the privacy of children is especially important. For that reason, we comply in all respects with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) and do not knowingly solicit, request or collect personal information from individuals under the age of 13. We require parental consent from users under 18 who wish to make a reservation. A child's personal information will be used to complete a reservation but it will not be used in circumstances outside of what is required to operate the business or site.

You can access personal information online by providing your customer number and password when prompted at the login. We use this procedure to better safeguard your information.
