Get college credit for your gap experience through our partnership with Southern New Hampshire University.
Enhance your EF Gap Year by earning three semester hours of credit for select program modules. You can even complete additional coursework to earn an EF Global Scholars certificate.
SNHU offers courses that correspond with your program modules: Language Study, Service Learning, and Internship. You can earn three semester hours of general credit for each module in your program.
Your experience in each module will form the basis for the coursework you complete. You’ll submit reflections to SNHU that require you to dive into your personal transformation and explore what you’ve learned.
Learn a language in the city of your choice. Improve your written and spoken use of the language through hands-on practice. How are local culture and customs influenced by the use of language?
Discover the impact of service learning on local communities through firsthand experiences with a range of organizations who are leading the way in defining what it means to be a global citizen.
Students on our 25-week EF Gap Year program have the additional option of earning an EF and SNHU certificate by completing a final reflection capstone project that explores a key aspect of global citizenship.
This is a unique opportunity to get a taste of college-level coursework and see the world, yourself, and your passions more clearly. On successful completion of the program, you can request a letter of recommendation from SNHU. You can even be considered for admission to an innovative degree program at SNHU—on campus or online.

Samantha D. EF Gap Year Class of 2019
During my gap, I photographed strangers on the streets of three different continents. I talked to local people, asking their opinions or their stories, and taking a portrait to document the exchange. Southern New Hampshire University gave me a safe space to develop my project, from rough drafts to final edits. Their support gave me the confidence to complete this study and share it with the world. This project is the highlight of my travels.
