COVID Safe Traveler Agreement

When it comes to traveling in the age of COVID, your safety comes first. So, as you prepare for your upcoming trip, take some time to read through this agreement and sign below.

Before Departure

To promote the health and safety of all group members on tour during the COVID-19 pandemic, I agree to commit to the following measures and requirements in advance of my departure.

  • COVID-19 Risks

    Travel during the COVID-19 pandemic involves certain inherent risks related to the chance of being exposed to and/or contracting COVID-19. I understand and acknowledge that it is not possible to eliminate all such risks related to COVID-19 during travel on my program. I will speak directly to my own physician with questions pertaining to my individual health and regarding travel at this time.

  • COVID-19 Vaccination Status

    I represent that I will be fully vaccinated (as defined as two weeks following the receipt of all recommended doses of a COVID-19 vaccine that has been authorized, approved, or listed for emergency use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, including any booster shots for which I am eligible) by the time of my departure.

  • COVID-19 Exposure

    I agree to take all reasonable efforts to minimize my exposure to COVID-19 within the two weeks prior to my program departure. If I am made aware that I have been in close contact (as defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes over a 24-hour period) with a person diagnosed within COVID-19 within 14 days of my departure date, I will notify EF Gap Year immediately.

  • COVID-19 Recovery

    If I have tested positive for COVID-19 within a 90-day period prior to departure, I have met all CDC guidelines for leaving isolation and/or have received proof of recovery documentation from my physician.

  • Symptoms

    I agree to immediately contact EF Gap Year if I experience symptoms associated with COVID-19 within 72 hours prior to travel, including:

    - Fever or chills
    - Cough
    - Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    - Fatigue
    - Muscle or body aches
    - Headache
    - New loss of taste or smell
    - Sore throat
    - Congestion or runny nose
    - Nausea or vomiting
    - Diarrhea

  • Pre-Departure COVID-19 Testing

    I agree to take and receive a negative result from one of the following COVID-19 testing options prior to departure: (i) a PCR test administered within 72 hours of tour departure; (ii) a supervised/telehealth antigen test administered within 72 hours of tour departure; or (iii) a rapid at-home antigen test taken within 24 hours of tour departure. I acknowledge that the requirements set by the specific destination(s) on my tour itinerary may have stricter or different COVID-19 testing and timeline requirements (i.e., only recognizing a PCR test administered within 72 hours of departure), and that EF will notify travelers in writing if such additional testing measures are required for their specific destination. I agree to take a COVID-19 test and receive a negative result in accordance with the strictest requirements applicable to my tour. I further agree to carry my test results with me at all times through the duration of the Tour Program, as proof of my negative test results when or if required. I will not be awaiting the results of any other COVID-19 tests at the time of departure. I understand that the destinations I am visiting on my Tour Program may have specific testing and timeline requirements. EF will notify travelers in writing if any additional testing measures are necessary for their specific destination.

  • Airline Requirements

    I will consult and follow the requirements and guidelines from the airline carriers, connecting airport authorities and arrival airport authorities.

On the road

Staying healthy throughout the tour is a group effort, and therefore I agree to the following requirements to help keep myself and my fellow travelers as safe as possible on program.

  • EF Gap Year and Local Regulations

    I agree to follow all local regulations, restrictions and advisories related to COVID-19 for my program. I also agree to follow all rules, requests and requirements from my Tour Director or EF Gap Year staff for the health and well-being of myself, my fellow travelers, and suppliers. I understand that if I am unable or unwilling to comply with these requirements, I may be removed from the program at my own expense.

  • Health on Tour

    I agree to monitor my health while on-tour for symptoms associated with COVID-19 every day throughout program. If I develop symptoms of COVID-19 while on program, I agree that I will not rejoin my group prior to informing my Tour Director or EF Gap Year staff member.

  • Quarantine and/or Isolation On-Tour

    I understand that if a tour member is diagnosed with COVID-19 while on the Tour Program, the person diagnosed with COVID-19 will be required to isolate and the remainder of the tour group will be required to quarantine on-tour AND take tests for COVID-19, in accordance with local guidelines. I agree to comply with EF and relevant authority quarantine and isolation requirements, including those that may exceed local guidelines.

  • Mask Wearing

    I will wear an acceptable mask at all times on tour, when required by local law, other relevant authorities, or at the direction of my Tour Director or EF staff.

Coming home from your gap program

There are a few important things I need to do at the end of program; understanding and agreeing to these things will help my travel to and arrival back home go smoothly.

Pre-Return COVID-19 Testing

I will take and cover the cost of a mandatory COVID-19 test (either PCR or antigen viral test) OR have documented proof of recovery from a medical professional, within 72 hours prior to my return flight departing to the US in accordance with U.S. Centers for Disease Control requirements

Advisories and Guidelines

I am familiar with and intend to follow the travel advisories and guidelines from my local, state and federal public health authorities upon my return home from my program, which may include (but are not limited to) COVID-19 testing and a quarantine period.

COVID-19 Diagnoses

I agree to notify EF Gap Year immediately if I am diagnosed with COVID-19 within 14 days of the end of my program.

Agreement

I will immediately contact EF Gap Year in the event any information included in this certification changes between now and my return home from my program.
