Traverse the Land of the Rising Sun

Your program begins with an Orientation Tour across Osaka, Hiroshima, and Tokyo. Your EF Tour Director will give you an insider's perspective on each city and help you contextualize your travels within local history, culture, and beyond. (Even if you've been to these cities before, you'll see them through totally new eyes—we promise!) You'll also have free time to explore on your own or with your new friends.

Orientation Tour 1 Week

Osaka

2 nights

Take a walking tour of Osaka's Dotonbori canal street, famous for its neon signs and sumptuous street food.

Hiroshima

3 nights

Delve into this city's complex past with a trip the Peace Memorial Park and Museum. Visit the iconic Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Tokyo

2 nights

Orient yourself to the world's most bustling city in record time. Explore neighborhoods that are full of character like Akihabara Electric Town.

Tokyo Immersion 5 Weeks

Language Study and Exploration

5 Weeks Tokyo

Take in the excitement of Tokyo during your 5-week stay. Sing your heart out at karaoke, drink a cappuccino at a cat cafe, and practice your Japanese with your homestay.

Live the language

After your Orientation Tour, you'll move to a homestay in Tokyo and take language classes on the EF campus. Our language school is located in the popular Shibuya area and boasts stunning views of the Tokyo skyline.

Elevate your Japanese

Learn Japanese from native speakers through lessons, interactive tools, and cultural immersion—all levels welcome!
Explore during your free time

Classes are a few hours per day, giving you plenty of free time to explore. Your EF Campus will host regular optional excursions and activities as well.

What you’ll experience

Kick off your program with an Orientation Tour across Osaka, Hiroshima, and Tokyo, where you'll see the sights, learn how to be a responsible traveler, and bond as a group.

Live with a local host and take Japanese classes at EF's Language Campus in Tokyo during weekdays. You'll have lots of free time to travel through organized excursions or on your own.

Every week, you'll engage in leadership development programming that will help you discover your strengths and chart your own path in life.

Grow personally & professionally

Through a combination of weekly facilitated workshops and your own experience living abroad, you’ll find your strengths, learn more about the world, and chart your own path forward.

Cultural immersion

Experience Japanese culture through living with a local host, as well as activities such as a cooking class or facilitated visit to a Japanese business.

Self-discovery

Discover your unique strengths and how to leverage them for personal and professional success. Reflect and define your own life goals.

Skills for the real world

Build the foundations of independence by learning how to navigate a new city, stick to a budget, and manage your time. These skills will help you in college, your career, and beyond.

Program Fee

The tuition for this 6-week program is $8,995.
