Every student on our year-long programs sets off on the ultimate road trip after the holiday break: a three-week immersion tour of Australia & New Zealand.
This three-week adventure is a perfect balance of action, cultural understanding, and free time. You'll have opportunities to hike, zip line, and hit the beach, you'll come to grips with Australia's complex cultural past through firsthand experience of both its colonial and aboriginal traditions and customs, and you'll have moments to reflect and apply your learnings.
The itinerary is subject to change, but here's what usually happens.
Australia 13 Days
Transcontinental flight to Melbourne, Australia; walking tour; Immersion Tour welcome reception; guided sightseeing; optional tour of the "Great Ocean Road”.
Guided tour of Melbourne: Carlton Gardens, Lygon Street, Collins Street, Queen Victoria Market and St. Paul’s Cathedral; Sports and Arts Precincts (with street art tour), St. Kilda Beach and Yarra River.
Flight to Cairns; snorkling on the Great Barrier Reef; Skyrail rainforest canopy tour; Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park.
Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park: An exploration of Aboriginal culture, customs, and food—including dreamtime storytelling.
Flight to Sydney; walking tour; guided sightseeing; free day or optional Hang Ten surfing excursion to Manly Beach.
Guided tour of Sydney: Opera House, Sydney Tower, Harbor Cruise, Bondi Beach.
New Zealand 7 Days
Flight to Queenstown, New Zealand; gondola ride to Bob’s Peak; fjord cruise of the Milford Sound
Milford Sound: scenic boat cruise of the the Milford Sound's spectacular fjords, waterfalls, and glaciers.
Flight to Rotorua; duck tour; Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Park; Maori cultural experience; optional Polynesian spa and forest canopy tour via zip-line; motorcoach to Auckland
